Entitled “The Holy Rosary” and written by Fr. M. Coarezza SDB, this 36-page book has a sturdy plastic comb binding and measures about 7.5 x 10.25 inches. It was published in 1980 by the Salesian Catechetical Centre in Hong Kong and has a 1980 Imprimatur. Text accompanies a color picture for each decade of the Rosary, all designed to assist with vocal and mental prayer. The illustrations are intended to help one maintain focus on the meditations and not let the mind wander. There also are four pages of history about this devotion. The inside front cover has brief instructions regarding how to say the Rosary. An easel on the back allows this book to stand upright for easy viewing by everyone in a small group. The paper is a sturdy cardstock, designed to last a while and not easily rip or tear.
This book is NOS (new old stock), meaning it is unused and brand new without wear, fading or stains. It is not second-hand, it is not returned merchandise, and it is not a library copy.
Please note that this book covers 15 decades: Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. Printed on the back page is a 1978 quotation from Pope John Paul II, who said, “The Rosary is my favorite prayer. A marvelous prayer! Marvelous in its simplicity and in its depth.” It was John Paul II who introduced the Mysteries of Light in October 2002, and since this book was released well before that Apostolic Letter came along, the Luminous Mysteries are not part of this book. This beautiful full-color leaflet has prayers, Our Lady’s prophecies and requests, along with guidance in saying the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glories mysteries of the Rosary.
